New Chelsea signing Jose Bosingwa faces at least three weeks on the sidelines with a torn thigh muscle, the club said on Saturday.
The Portugal right-back, 25, who lasted just 20 minutes of his debut match this week, has left the club's Asian tour after undergoing scans here.
"Jose Bosingwa's injury has been diagnosed as a small tear in his thigh. The player has returned to England for the remainder of his recovery," said a statement on Chelsea's website.
Chelsea face Chengdu Blades in their second tour match later on Saturday.
