Experiences, sounds, and tastes of Asheville's downtown scene.
Touring downtown Asheville on a weekend night provides excitement in the form of many street performers and musicians. You can watch as a woman dressed and painted from head to toe in a metallic silver paint standing atop a box, stands perfectly still until a tip is placed in her bucket. For that tip she will drum for a few seconds and end in a different position than she began to once again stand stock still. Another artist will paint an amazing picture using coffee cans and spray paint. He can create an entire night sky scene in a matter of minutes using only these items. There are also countless small bands and buskers playing for tips or just a smile. It's truly a night of fun just walking along the sidewalk.n
But the Asheville restaurants is where the fun becomes even more intriguing. Choose from any area of the globe and you can almost definitely find a venue to serve you an authentic plate. From central and south American plates that leave your pal ate spiced with jalapenos, to the Asian cuisine that offers great food rich with seasonings of that area. Sometimes though, you simply want some great southern cooking that this area is known for. Mayfels is a place that offers great plates full of comfort food, including vegetarian options. Choose from there breakfast/brunch, lunch, or dinner menus. n
Asheville downtown restaurants are as diverse and wonderful as the residents here and we take great pride in offering a complete downtown experience complete with a drum circle on Friday nights. During the early night hours twenty to thirty drummers come together for an amazing jam session with djembe drums making music for hours. During that time many dancers, hula hoopers, and even some circus type performers show their skill in the square. It's a fantastic family friendly time for people to simply enjoy being artistic together.n
All of this only explains the downtown scene, take all of the breathtaking nature we have to offer like:n
Waterfalls and sliding rock
Hiking trails
National Forests
and Nature Preserves
nPlan your next vacation during one of our many festivals and block parties, like Belle Chere, a huge street carnival, Sourwood, a great display of artistic ability where booths are set up in Scenic Black Mountain, or the twice yearly Lake Eden Arts Festival, where families come to camp for the weekend and experience groups, vendors, and artists. There is never a dull moment in western North Carolina and the residents of this area are friendly and helpful so come see us soon!
